The jury in the trial of a psychiatric nurse accused of stabbing six people following an 18th birthday party in Tallaght is due to be sent out today.
Brian Quinn, who now lives in Balbriggan, denies carrying out the attacks in October 2011.
He allegedly attacked the birthday boy, his father and four of his friends after a row broke out following a party at a house in Kiltipper.
The 46-year-old has pleaded not guilty to charges of intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm, assault causing harm and pulling a knife.
His defence claims Mr. Quinn's partner was attacked by a number of drunken men outside his home and that they barged in after he pulled her inside.
The jury was told he acted in self-defence but lawyers for the state say it would be a "giant leap" to reach that conclusion given the injuries inflicted.
Closing arguments will continue today before the jurors are charged and sent out to begin their deliberations.
