A government deal for people who bought homes at Priory Hall will be announced later.
It’s been two years since the Donaghmede complex was evacuated amid fire safety concerns but some sort of solution could now be on the horizon.
Three weeks ago, the Environment Minister invited all relevant parties to talks saying it was time for a solution to be thrashed out.
A proposal was agreed upon yesterday and has now been passed onto the former residents for consideration.
Many of the homeowners stopped paying their mortgages and following the Government’s recent intervention, they said they were hopeful of a clean slate
Some sort of mortgage deal is expected but it’s not yet clear how buy-to-let loans will be handled.
Residents have been living in temporary accommodation since their evacuation.
So far, Dublin City Council has been footing the bill but the Supreme Court is due to hear an appeal from them early next week.
In the meantime, residents say they’l be going through this proposed deal in detail before deciding whether or not to accept it.
