An investigation is underway after Donegal Labour Party Senator Jimmy Harte was found with serious head injuries in Dublin this morning.
Senator Harte, who is from Letterkenny was found on New market square just before 4am.
He was taken to St. James's Hospital for treatment before being transferred to Dublin's Beaumont Hospital where he underwent surgery this morning.
He is said to be in a serious condition.
