Dublin Airport and the Dublin Mail Centre - have seen a surge in the number of illegal guns and ammunition stopped by customs officers this year.
Handguns, machetes, revolvers, cans of tear gas and even an air-mortar bomb are among the items already seized by customs in the first 10 months of the year.
A report in today's Examiner says they've also seized a number of signal jammers - which have been used increasingly in recent months to block security alarms, by blocking the landline connection between the alarm and the monitoring station.
Security firms have been warning about jammers and are currently trying find ways to stop them being effective.
