Mick McCarthy's still waiting on an approach from the FAI about the Ireland job. It looks like it's a straight shootout between McCarthy and Roy Keane to become Giovanni Trapattoni's successor. Martin O'Neill was the early favourite for the job but he's expected to cool his interest this week. It's believed McCarthy would like a second spell in charge of the Boys in Green but he's contracted with Ipswich until June 2015. That means the FAI would have to fork out a compensation deal for the Championship club. Keane is available but like McCarthy's he's yet to hear from the FAI's two man selection team of Ray Houghton and Rudd Dokter.
