Commuters can breathe a sigh of relief... the cost cutting row at Dublin Bus is finally over.
SIPTU drivers have voted against taking strike action and the company's cost-cutting plan will be introduced later this month.
SIPTU drivers were the only section of staff to reject the cost saving plan which Dublin Bus claim is vital to getting the company back on track financially.
Yesterday - after five attempts and more than a year of talks - the ballot results came in with the 1,300 staff voting 72% NOT to take any more industrial action.
The union's John Murphy said effectively, they had little other choice but accept the cuts and no one is 'jumping up and down'
The government had previously warned that negotiations in the long-running dispute had gone as far as they could go, and there would be no re-negotiation of the current plan - which will now come into force in ten days time.
Dublin Bus has welcomed the development, saying it looks forward to getting the company back to financial stability.
