Arsenal have moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League table after beating Southampton 2-0 at the Emiretes stadium.
Olivier Giroud opened the scoring after he stole the ball from the feet of Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc, who had a number of chances to knock the ball into touch.
It was nervy final hour however, as the win never looked secure. An 86th minute penalty was converted by Giroud to secure the points after Per Mertesacker was pulled inside the Southampton box.
There were moments of brilliance from the home side, but it seemed the vital second goal just wasn't coming.
Aaron Ramsey had a lovely flick in the first half, but it came back off the foot of Boruc's post.
Liverpool had a chance to close the gap on the Gunners earlier in the day, but could only draw 3-3 away to Everton.
