7,000 submissions have been made about the traffic-free trial on Capel Street and Parliament Street.
Dublin City Council says it was the largest consultation process so far.
The three-week consultation period has ended and the city council says it received a wide range of diverse views.
The submissions are now being considered, before a report is prepared for the elected members, and planning of the preferred option will then begin.
The traffic-free trial is being extended by an additional weekend, and will now finish on October 3rd.
Thanks to everyone who took part in our consultation on the ongoing Capel St/Parliament St traffic-free streets initiative. With approx 7,000 submissions a report will be prepared & planning of the preferred option will be advanced. The initiative is being extended until Oct 3rd! pic.twitter.com/FW6TtwLrhV

Dublin City Council says it would like to thank everyone who took part in the recent 3 week public consultation period on the ongoing Capel St/Parliament St traffic-free streets initiative.
Over the course of the summer Dublin City Council (DCC) put in place a number of measures on Capel Street and Parliament Street to facilitate outdoor dining and city reopening, creating 1,300 square metres of extra public space. These measures include making a section of the street traffic-free 24/7 and also installing numerous buildouts which provide space for restaurants and hospitality businesses to operate on a 7 day basis. All these facilities will still continue to stay in place over the winter months and will be reviewed next year at an appropriate time.
In addition, DCC also made Capel Street and Parliament Street traffic-free from 18:30 – 23:30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from June 11th. This was initially for a period of six weeks and following the initial successful weekends, DCC announced in mid-July that this was extended to the end of August, when indoor dining would have resumed. This was then extended further until September 26th, and again today until October 3rd.
