52 per cent of single people looking to date during the pandemic say they now want to do so locally.

45 per cent of people say they would be reluctant to go on a date if it was too far away from them.

That's according to a survey by dating site Bumble, as lockdown restrictions ease.

Online daters now can now select what type of dates they're looking for including virtual only, socially-distanced, or socially-distanced with masks.

Naomi Walkland, Head of UK and Ireland at Bumble said: “Even with lockdown restrictions lifting in Ireland, there’s an emerging trend of people looking to meet and date others locally to where they live and are most comfortable in. With the Bumble app you can set the radius for finding potential matches to as small as one mile. This means you don’t need to go further than your own neighbourhood for your first post-lockdown date. You can plan to meet at your local park or pub, as we all learn to navigate this new world of dating.”
