Half of students who sat the written Leaving Cert exam in November received better results than their calculated grade.
Over 2,000 students have received their results in the last hour.
Meanwhile, CAO applications have hit record levels - with almost 80,000 applicants registering by the deadline yesterday evening.
2,202 students chose to sit the written Leaving Cert exam in November, out of over 60,000 Leaving Cert candidates last year.
According to the State Examinations Commission, one in two students who sat the exams received results that are higher than their calculated grade in one or more subjects.
Almost 40% of overall grades were higher, 28% stayed the same, while 34% were lower.
Options
Students who earn more points will have the option to start a new higher point course in September.
Meanwhile, CAO applications have hit record levels.
By yesterday's deadline, 79,303 applicants had registered, the highest ever at this time of the year.
The Cabinet will today consider Leaving Certificate recommendations for this year from the Education Minister Norma Foley, however a decision isn't expected until next week.
