The family of the five-year-old girl that was critically injured in last month's city centre stabbing are hopeful she will be out of intensive care by the end of the year.
In a statement, posted to the GoFundMe page dedicated to the young victim, they say she is 'still fighting', and they have called her a 'warrior'.
The young girl currently remains in the pediatric intensive care unit, but there are hopes she'll be moved to a ward soon.
The full statement reads:
"Our little girl is a warrior. She is still fighting. She remains in the PICU with hopes of moving to the ward before the end of the year. We can all feel the love and prayers every second of the day. Had it not been for all of our friends, family and everyone's support, we wouldn't have had the strength to stand, and for that we thank you all".
The girl was left critically injured after a knife attack at Parnell Square on November 23rd, after which she was brought to Temple Street Children Hospital to undergo emergency surgery, and she has remained there since.
The GoFundMe set up for the victim and her family has reached over €45,000 to date.
