4th of July fireworks will take place at the Phoenix Park on Saturday in honour of frontline workers.
The U.S. Embassy has reversed a decision to cancel the Independence Day tradition.
The firework display will take place at 11pm.
It's not open to the public but people are advised the best view will be from the Fifteen Acres area of the park which looks on to the lawn of the Ambassador's residence, and it will be streamed live on U.S. Embassy Dublin’s Instagram and Facebook pages.
Edward F. Crawford, U.S. Ambassador to Ireland says: “U.S. Embassy Dublin has a long tradition of 4th of July Independence Day celebrations in Phoenix Park. In April we cancelled this year’s event out of an abundance of caution given the COVID-19 pandemic.
“However, on July 4th we will relight our fireworks tradition. The 2020 fireworks display will go forward in honour of Ireland's frontline workers for their incredible commitment during a very difficult time. We hope that when you see and hear the fireworks over Phoenix Park at 11pm, you will give thanks for their selfless efforts to make us all safer.”
