More than a fifth of private rentals in Dublin are now owned by large or corporate landlords with over a hundred properties.
That's according to the Residential Tenancies Board which has released a new 'Profile of the Register' data series.
In Dublin, landlords with a hundred or more tenancies accounted for 22.55 per cent of all private tenancies registered in the first three months of the year.
Outside the capital, the figure was just 2.56 per cent.
The RTB data also shows reports of small landlords leaving the market in their droves may not be accurate.
The numbers nationally with just one rental property remained largely the same between the middle of last year and March, at 26 per cent.
Private tenancies registered with the RTB have increased for every quarter in the new series, rising from 213,177 at the end of quarter two 2023 to 230,006 at the end of quarter one 2024. That's a 7.9 per cent increase.
