A driver has been detected doing 138 km an hour in a 100 zone on the N7 at Brownsbarn in Dublin during National Slow Down Day.
316 drivers have been caught breaking the speed limit during National Slow Down Day.
The Garda initiative has been in place since 7am, and over 144-thousand vehicles have been checked so far.
A vehicle was detected driving 137 km an hour on the M4 at Towlaght in Clonard in Co Meath which is a 120km zone, while another was found to be doing 134 km an hour in a 100km zone on the N18 Ballinacurra in Limerick.
The garda initiative began at 7am and continues for 24 hours.

The joint campaign by Gardai and the Road Safety Authority is appealing to drivers to reduce their speed and be extra aware of the road around them.
Four in five fatalities on Irish roads this year have happened on rural roads with speed limits of over 80 kilometres per hour.
113 people have died on Irish roads this year.
