It's the first restriction-free Christmas we've had since 2019, and Dublin Airport is preparing for a very busy festive period.
Around 1.5 million people are expected to arrive and depart between Friday, December 16th and Wednesday, January 4th.
The number of people travelling this year up by around 95% when compared to the same period last year.
The Dublin Airport Authority is urging those who are heading on a short-haul flight to arrive in the terminal two hours before their take-off time, and three hours in advance if it's a long-haul flight.
Friday, December 23rd is typically a day of reunions and emotional scenes in the arrivals hall, and this year is no different. An estimated 98,000 passengers are expected to arrive, and depart, two days before Christmas.
Airport spokesperson, Graeme McQueen says that "the true magic of Christmas at Dublin Airport will be back this December with families from around the world once again fully free to enjoy Christmas together following two very disrupted years due to the Covid pandemic."
"The arrivals halls in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport are heart-warming places to be at this time of year as people are re-united with loved ones."
