Tottenham crack top 4

Tottenham went fourth in the Premier League on Sunday evening following a 2-1 win at Southampton.

Gareth Bale’s header on the quarter hour put Spurs ahead against the Welsh wizard’s former club. And Clint Dempsey bundled a second into the Saints net six minutes before the break.

Jay Rodriguez pulled one back for Southampton, but despite late pressure from the home side, Spurs came away with the three points.

Newcastle left it late to beat West Brom at St James’s Park.

The Magpies went ahead ten minutes before the break after Demba Ba volleyed past Ben Foster.

West Brom were level ten minutes after the restart after on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku headed them to parity.

But deep in stoppage time, a Sammy Ameobi strike deflected off the back of Papiss Cissé and into the Baggies’ net to seal the three points for Alan Pardew’s side
