The number of people in Ireland being diagnosed with cancer is likely to increase by over 70 per cent within two decades.

That’s according to new research published by the World Cancer Research Fund.

It estimates Ireland will have over 33-thousand new cases by 2030.

That’s the biggest predicted rise out of all of the 27 EU member states.

The figures have been announced to mark World Cancer Day.
