S/S2012 Trend – Neon & How To Wear It!

S/S 2012 Trend: Neon and it is back with a bang and bolder than ever.

This trend is one of my favourite trends and it has been appearing all over the catwalks and high street. Sometimes however, this trend injects a little fear into minds of fashion lovers, so I am here to help by rounding up the easiest ways to invite neon into your wardrobe; without looking like a glow stick, 80s reject or a caution sign.

Spring/Summer’s boldest trend has more potential than you might think!

Accessorise

Ease yourself in gently to this eighties inspired trend by adding neon scarves, and neon belts. A fluorescent pink scarf paired with a classic leather jacket really updates an otherwise simple outfit!

Dress the bottom only

Some colours are more wearable on the bottom half of an outfit, try a neon skirt or neon skinny jeans.

Neutrals

Pair the brightest bright with a neutral for a striking contrast, ie: beige! Using a neutral shade like this will add a touch of class to even the most obnoxious of tones.

Pattern

For the brave and those already heralding the trend; prints and patterns like Aztec can be played up with contrasting neon pieces, or toned down with a simple blouse.

Hot pink

Hot pink complements those neutral colours best and looks equally great with orange and blue; just keep your silhouettes structured and figure hugging!

Nail polish

Not ready for the complete commitment? Try it on your nails first. Ultra bright, fun hues like those at American Apparel will ensure you’re involved but not overwhelmed.
